Official wording from NHTSA
Component: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Summary: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 Honda CR-V, 2011-2015 CR-Z, 2010-2014 FCX, and Insight, 2009-2013 Fit, 2013-2014 Fit EV, 2007-2014 Ridgeline, 2013-2016 Acura ILX, 2013-2014 Acura ILX Hybrid, 2007-2016 RDX, 2005-2012 Acura RL, 2009-2014 Acura TL, and 2010-2013 Acura ZDX vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture.
Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the inflator, free of charge. The recall began March 2017. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are JY0, JY1, and JY2.
Notes: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
10. Airbags
What's wrong, in plain English: The airbag system — the part that is supposed to protect you in a crash. DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS, THE DASHBOARD COVERING MATERIAL MAY HAVE NOT BEEN PROPERLY LASER SCORED TO ALLOW COMPLETE DEPLOYMENT OF THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SRS AIRBAG.
What could happen: IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY.
The fix: HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND ACURA DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE DASHBOARD COVERING MATERIAL AND REPLACE IF NECESSARY FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 21, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ACURA CLIENT SERVICES AT 1-800-382-2238.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2010 ZDX.
- Book a repair at any authorized Acura dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 10V145000.
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-382-2238.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

THERE HAS BEEN A THUMPING NOISE AND OTHER FORMS OF INSTABILITY. EVER SINCE PURCHASE, THIS CAR HAS APPEARED UNSTABLE AND A BIT WOBBLY, WHEN RUNNING OVER A SMALL POTHOLE OR A SMALL BUMP. BUT I ATTRIBUTED THIS TO ITS HEAVY WEIGHT. THE STRUT ASSEMBLY, A VERY EXPENSIVE COMPONENT IN THIS ELEPHANT OF A CAR LEAKS, AS DO HUNDREDS OF OTHER SUCH CARS, ESPECIALLY EARLI…
