1. Brakes

What's wrong, in plain English: Anything that slows the car down. Treat brake recalls as urgent. Repeated turning of the handlebars to the left most position may cause the front brake hose to crack and leak over time.

What could happen: A brake fluid leak can reduce braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake hose, adding an additional protective sleeve that will cover the hose connection fitting, free of charge. The recall began August 6, 2019. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. Note: This recall includes scooters previously recalled und…

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2016 C600 SPORT MAXI-SCOOTER.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized BMW dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 19V157000.
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-525-7417.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
