What could happen: If the rear wheel mounting flange cracks, the mounting bolts may loosen and the rear wheel may not remain secured to the motorcycle, causing a loss of stability and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the existing aluminum rear wheel flange with a steel one, free of charge. The recall began on May 7, 2015. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

I contacted a dealer several times, but they have been unable to remedy due to no parts since April 2021. FUEL GAUGE STOPPED RESPONDING, LEADING TO RUNNING OUT OF FUEL WHILE MOVING. THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE ON MANY BIKE MODELS FROM BMW FROM 2005-2013.THE FUEL LEVEL MEASURING STRIP IN THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER04. ABS PUMP FAILED AFTER ~ 21,000 MILES LEAVING ME WITHOUT ANY ABS. TRIED TO COME TO A STOP ON A HIGHWAY ON-RAMP AND LOCKED THE REAR TIRE UP AND SKIDDED FOR ~ 25 FT BEFORE STOPPING. DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A KEY PIECE OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT CAN FAIL WITH SUCH LOW MILES AND THERE IS NO RECALL OR GOODWILL ON BMW'S PART TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART. *TR
