2011 Dodge Charger Police recalls & complaints
Source: NHTSA, updated daily. Last checked 2026-10-20. Recalls apply to specific VINs — run your VIN to confirm.
1 safety recall, most serious first
1. Electrical system
What's wrong, in plain English: Wiring, modules, batteries. Short circuits can cause stalls or fires. The affected vehicles have a 220 amp alternator that may suddenly fail.
What could happen: If the alternator fails, the vehicle may stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. There is also the possibility that the alternator may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.
The fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the alternator with a revised alternator, free of charge. The recall began on December 23, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S68.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2011 CHARGER POLICE.
- Book a repair at any authorized Dodge dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 16V739000 (manufacturer code S68).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-853-1403.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

AFTER ONLINE RESEARCH, OTHER 2011 CHARGERS, BOTH POLICE AND CIVILIAN MODELS, AS WELL AS PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS, BOTH LEAK GAS FROM THE SAME AREA, PASSENGER SIDE, IN FRONT OF THE REAR RIGHT TIRE.
