1. Suspension

What's wrong, in plain English: Parts can break and cause loss of control. The rear stabilizer bar attachment brackets may break and separate from the vehicle.

What could happen: Brackets that separate from the vehicle can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: Dealers will inspect the bolt tightness for both rear stabilizer attachment brackets and replace the weld nuts and bolts, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 8, 2023. Remedy parts are expected to become ready February 28, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866…

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2020 F53.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Ford dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 22V731000 (manufacturer code 22S62).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-866-436-7332.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
