1. Lights

What's wrong, in plain English: Headlights, tail lights or turn signals may not work, making the car hard to see. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2019 Forest River Primetime Impression fifth wheels, model MPF3000RLS-49. The side marker lights are not located in the correct spot, reducing visibility of the vehicle to other drivers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

What could happen: Reduced visibility of the fifth wheel can increase the risk of a crash.

The fix: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will remedy the vehicles, free of charge. The recall began November 1, 2018. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-862-1025. Forest River's number for this recall is 49-0891.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2019 IMPRESSION.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Forest River dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 18V733000 (manufacturer code 49-0891).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-574-862-1025.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
