2023 Forest River Rockwood recalls & complaints
Source: NHTSA, updated daily. Last checked 2026-10-19. Recalls apply to specific VINs — run your VIN to confirm.
2 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Transmission / drivetrain
What's wrong, in plain English: The parts that send engine power to the wheels. Failure can mean a sudden loss of power or the car rolling away. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2022 Flagstaff and 2022-2023 Rockwood tent campers. The axle may be installed backwards, which can reduce brake function.
What could happen: A loss of brake function increases the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will inspect and properly install the axle if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 24, 2022. Owners may contact Forest River Customer Service at 1-574-642-8943. Forest River's number for this recall is 10-1539.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2023 ROCKWOOD.
- Book a repair at any authorized Forest River dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 22V558000 (manufacturer code 10-1539).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-574-642-8943.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

2. Equipment
What's wrong, in plain English: A part or accessory supplied with the vehicle. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2023 Rockwood and Flagstaff fifth wheels. The Federal Placard states an axle rating of 5,200 lbs, when the correct axle rating is 5,000 lbs.
What could happen: An incorrect axle rating can result in the vehicle being overloaded, causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will replace the Federal Placards, free of charge. Dealers were notified August 26, 2022. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-8943. Forest River's number for this recall is 10-1549.

First trip with trailer, 200 mile trip, stopped for gas and tire sidewall blowout sounding like a gunshot. Trailer not overloaded, cool day 60 degrees. So glad it did not happen while on the freeway as the tire blow out and lost all air would have been hard to control trailer. Goodyear Endurance Tire size ST205/7515d
