1. Equipment

What's wrong, in plain English: A part or accessory supplied with the vehicle. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Shasta Revere SHT32FE recreational trailers. The liquid propane (LP) gas line may have been improperly installed through the wheel-well, allowing the gas line to be damaged by road debris kicked up by the tires.

What could happen: A damaged LP gas line may leak, increasing the risk of a fire.

The fix: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will re-reroute the LP gas line so that road debris cannot damage it, free of charge. The recall began June 19, 2019. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-8717. Forest River's number for this recall is 53-0995.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2017 SHASTA.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Forest River dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 19V394000 (manufacturer code 53-0995).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-574-825-8717.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
