4 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Wheels / tires
What's wrong, in plain English: A wheel or tire can fail while driving. The Federal Placard and Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) label may state a lower weight than the actual weight. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 120, "Wheels and Rims-Other Than Passenger Cars."
What could happen: An inaccurate weight on the Federal Placard can cause the vehicle to be overloaded, possibly causing damage to the tires and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Forest River will notify owners and will provide a new Federal Placard and replace any damaged tires, free of charge. The recall began January 8, 2021. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-0432. Forest River's number for this recall is 79-1257.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2021 XLR TOYHAULER.
- Book a repair at any authorized Forest River dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 20V767000 (manufacturer code 79-1257).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-574-642-0432.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
