High risk Campaign 19V342000 · announced 03/05/2019 (7 years ago)

1. Brakes

What's wrong, in plain English: Anything that slows the car down. Treat brake recalls as urgent. Depending on the specific wiring of the vehicle, these brake lights may illuminate when the brake pedal has not been pressed.

What could happen: If the brake lights incorrectly illuminate, it can confuse other drivers, possibly increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: Taylor Made will notify owners and Whelen will replace the brake lights, free of charge. The recall began June 5, 2019. Owners may contact Taylor Made Ambulances customer service at 1-800-468-1310.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2017 G3500.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized GMC dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 19V342000.
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-468-1310.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
