1. Electrical system

What's wrong, in plain English: Wiring, modules, batteries. Short circuits can cause stalls or fires. The electric motors in the rear drive units may have insufficiently insulated wires that can contact each other, resulting in a loss of drive power.

What could happen: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

The fix: Dealers will replace the rear drive unit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 16, 2024. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020; Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006; Hummer customer service at 1-800-732-5493; or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. 2. Lights

What's wrong, in plain English: Headlights, tail lights or turn signals may not work, making the car hard to see. The front turn signal lights and parking lights may be too similar in brightness, making it difficult to see the front turn signals when they are activated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

What could happen: Front turn signals that are difficult to see may not clearly indicate the driver's intentions to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: Dealers will replace the headlamp multipurpose LED driver (MLD) module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 4, 2024. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 888-988-7267. GM's number for this recall is N242474560.

3. Seat belts

What's wrong, in plain English: Seat belts may not hold you in a crash. The bolt that secures the rear center seat belt assembly to the seat structure may not have been properly tightened.

What could happen: An improperly secured seat belt assembly may not restrain an occupant as intended, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

The fix: GM will tighten the bolt that attaches the center seat belt assembly to the rear seat structure, free of charge. All affected vehicles are still in dealer inventory and, therefore, no owner letters will be mailed. 06/18/2026 · Latches / locks
The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra EV. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the front trunk had erroneously opened. During the failure the vehicle would not shift out of the park position and the warning message indicating that the door was unsecured had displayed. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred on multiple occasions and…

06/02/2026 · Brakes
After the latest update from the Dealer, the integrated trailer brake module no longer shows an output of how much power it's applying to the trailer brake system. It just stays blank. I can tell that the brakes actually are being applied, however not having indication of them being applied and how much pressure is applied is concerning.

05/11/2026 · Transmission / drivetrain · fire
I was driving and noticed a very strong smell of an electrical fire. The truck popped up a High Voltage Battery warning and several warning lights came on. We stopped, restarted the truck and the lights came on again, the smell returned as soon as we started driving. We drove the truck to Cable Dahmer GMC in Kansas City, MO. Service advisor Kracinda aske…

05/01/2025 · Body / structure
While on freeway going 75 mph, GMC installed soft tonneau cover came loose from forward anchor points and starting flapping loudly in wind and without quickly stopping would have flown off truck and hit surrounding vehicles.

03/17/2025 · Visibility (wipers / glass)
The truck bed cover is not secure, it fits in via a channel with no straps or other protections and so when driving on the highway, it flies off from the connection to the cab and you can’t see behind you. It then smacks into the car until you can pull over. There is no protection against this.
