1 safety recall, most serious first

Moderate Campaign 94V227000 · announced 21/11/1994 (31 years ago)

1. Equipment

What's wrong, in plain English: A part or accessory supplied with the vehicle. BOTH THE SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT (SIR) CAUTION LABEL AND AN ENGINE START LABEL WERE INSTALLED ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S SUN VISOR. THIS DOES NOT COMPLY WITH FMVSS NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION."

What could happen: CONSEQUENCE OF NON-COMPLIANCE: OPERATORS COULD FAIL TO NOTICE AND HEED THE WARNING LABELS.

The fix: A NEW LABEL, WITH INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS, WILL BE SENT DIRECTLY TO OWNERS. OWNERS WILL INSTALL THE LABEL OR CAN HAVE THEIR DEALER INSTALL THE LABEL FOR THEM.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 1995 VANDURA SERIES.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized GMC dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 94V227000.
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
