What's wrong, in plain English: Engine problems range from stalling to fire. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2024-2025 ADV160 scooters. The oil pump driven gear may fail, resulting in a loss of drive power.
What could happen: Loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash or injury.
The fix: Dealers will replace the oil pump driven gear, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed August 6, 2025. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is KR9.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2025 ADV160.
- Book a repair at any authorized Honda dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 25V195000 (manufacturer code KR9).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
