1. Seats

What's wrong, in plain English: Seat frames, adjusters or child-seat anchors. The front passenger seat back frame may not have been welded properly, which can cause the seat back position to fail in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 207, "Seating Systems" and 201, "Occupant Protection in Interior Impact."

What could happen: A seat back position that fails may not adequately restrain the occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The fix: Dealers will replace the front passenger seat back frame assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 27, 2023. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is 6PK.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2023 CR-V.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Honda dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 23V092000 (manufacturer code 6PK).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-888-234-2138.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
