1 safety recall, most serious first
1. Electrical system
What's wrong, in plain English: Wiring, modules, batteries. Short circuits can cause stalls or fires. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 CRF450L motorcycles. The horn mount may break, allowing the horn to detach from the motorcycle.
What could happen: An unsecured horn may interfere with the motorcycle while driving, affecting handling and control, or it may fall off and become a road hazard. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
The fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the horn and horn mount, free of charge. The recall began November 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is KK4.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2019 CRF450L.
- Book a repair at any authorized Honda dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 19V703000 (manufacturer code KK4).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-866-784-1870.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
