The fix: Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 7, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2026 ODYSSEY ICE.

- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.

Vehicle: 2026 Honda Odyssey EX-L, VIN [XXX] (leased). My prior leased Odyssey (2025) was totaled on [XXX], when its Lane Keeping Assist malfunctioned at highway speed: the steering became unresponsive, the vehicle drifted out of lane, and it crashed into a concrete barrier. I filed NHTSA complaint 11744403 for that incident. That complaint also documented A…

My 2026 Honda Odyssey’s auto idle stop system shut the engine off at a red light, and when I lifted off the brake the engine failed to restart, leaving the vehicle completely inoperable in traffic. I had to shift into park and manually restart the engine. This has happened three times.

There is some sort of starter issue. It has a way to turn the starter off when I’m idle but multiple times it’s taken a long time to start after idling. Today it would not move after I was idle at a light so I had to park and restart the car. Then I went home and was going to go out again and it didn’t start. I waited a minute and it started again.
