1 safety recall, most serious first
1. Engine
What's wrong, in plain English: Engine problems range from stalling to fire. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2021 Honda Rebel 1100 (CMX1100) motorcycles. The radiator cap may have been improperly formed during manufacturing, which could create an insufficient seal.
What could happen: An insufficiently sealed radiator cap may leak or spray hot coolant, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
The fix: Dealers will replace the radiator cap and refill any lost coolant, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 22, 2022. Owners may contact Honda service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is KN1.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2021 REBEL 1100.
- Book a repair at any authorized Honda dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 21V987000 (manufacturer code KN1).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-888-234-2138.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
