1. Engine

What's wrong, in plain English: Engine problems range from stalling to fire. Debris inside the engine may cause engine failure, which can result in a loss of drive power and/or an engine compartment fire.

What could happen: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash, and a vehicle fire can increase the risk of injury.

The fix: Dealers will install a software update and replace the block or engine as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning May 7, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this…

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2025 GRAND CHEROKEE 4XE.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Jeep dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 25V766000 (manufacturer code 78C).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
