High risk Campaign 26V163000 · announced 18/03/2026 (-227 days ago)

1. Seat belts

What's wrong, in plain English: Seat belts may not hold you in a crash. The third-row lower seat belt anchorage bracket may have an insufficient weld stud.

What could happen: A seat belt assembly with an insufficient weld may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The fix: Dealers will replace the third-row lower seat belt anchorage bracket or the weld-stud on the bracket, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 19, 2026. Owners may contact Land Rover's customer service at 800-637-6837. Land Rover's numbers for this recall are D098 and D113.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2026 DEFENDER 90 MHEV.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Land Rover dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 26V163000 (manufacturer code D098 and D113).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

09/23/2026 · Electrical system
My instrument cluster will dim to a nearly unreadable level at random times during the day. This appears to be a common and documented issue with Land Rover Defenders. I have seen a multitude of forum posts going back several years about this issue. There are no settings in the system that allow me to adjust this or prevent it from happening.
