1. Vehicle Speed Control — fix not yet available

What's wrong, in plain English: A vehicle part that may fail. In November 2012, Toyota informed the agency that it was including an additional 10,565 vehicles including certain model year 2008 through 2011 Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 164,601. The accelerator pedal can get stuck in the wide open position due to its being trapped by an unsecured or incompatible driver's floor mat.

What could happen: A stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death.

The fix: Toyota and Lexus will notify owners of affected vehicles and dealers will modify or replace the accelerator pedal and replace any driver's floor mat not specified for the vehicle. Owners of the Lexus vehicles were notified during August 2012. Toyota has not yet provided a notification schedule for the additional Lan…

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2010 RX350.
  2. The fix is not available yet. Register your contact details with the dealer so they call you when parts arrive.
  3. Ask the dealer to confirm the repair is free of charge — safety recall repairs are free by US law.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-331-4331.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

I was not made aware of the recall on the rubber oil cooler hoses. The rubber hoses malfunctioned and all the oil leaked out on 4/13/2026. I paid to have fixed. Lexus kept the hoses.
