2007 Mazda Tribute recalls & complaints

1 safety recall, most serious first
1. Suspension
What's wrong, in plain English: Parts can break and cause loss of control. The affected wheel bearings have incorrect dimensions of a 42mm bore, 76mm outer dimension, and 39mm width, instead of a 42mm bore, 78mm outer dimension and a 45mm width.
What could happen: Use of an incorrectly sized wheel bearing can adversely affect the braking and steering of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Timken has begun notifying distributors who will offer purchasers replacement wheel bearings, free of charge. The recall began on May 21, 2015. Owners may contact Timken customer service at 1-866-984-6536.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2007 TRIBUTE.
- Book a repair at any authorized Mazda dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 15E045000.
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-866-984-6536.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
