Moderate Campaign 26V134000 · announced 06/03/2026 (4 months ago)

1. Latches / locks

What's wrong, in plain English: Doors, hood or trunk may open unexpectedly. The bowden cable may have been incorrectly installed, which can prevent the door from opening from inside the vehicle.

What could happen: A door that cannot be opened may trap occupants inside the vehicle, which can increase the risk of injury.

The fix: Dealers will inspect and repair the bowden cable assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 1, 2026. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning March 13, 2026.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2026 GLA 250.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 26V134000.
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-367-6372.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
