2017 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 recalls & complaints
Source: NHTSA, updated daily. Last checked 2026-10-19. Recalls apply to specific VINs — run your VIN to confirm.
1 safety recall, most serious first
1. Airbags
What's wrong, in plain English: The airbag system — the part that is supposed to protect you in a crash. The internal acceleration sensor in the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) can misinterpret vibrations, such as from poor road conditions or a flat tire, as a malfunction and disable all the vehicle's air bags.
What could happen: Air bags that do not deploy increase the risk of injury in a crash.
The fix: MMNA notified owners, and dealers will reprogram the SRS-ECU software, free of charge. The recall began May 24, 2019. Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. MMNA's number for this recall is SR-19-001.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2017 MIRAGE G4.
- Book a repair at any authorized Mitsubishi dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 19V330000 (manufacturer code SR-19-001).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-888-648-7820.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

I was involved in an accident which rendered my Mitsubishi Mirage a total loss. There was severe damage to the front driver's side of my vehicle. I am concerned because none of the air bags deployed. I was traveling at approximately 40 mph when a large pickup truck with a brush guard on the front ran a red light and collided with my vehicle.
