1. Steering

What's wrong, in plain English: If steering fails you can lose control of the car. The power steering hose clamp may not adequately secure the hose, allowing the hose to detach and leak power steering fluid.

What could happen: If the power steering fluid leaks onto a heat source such as hot engine or exhaust components, there could be an increased risk of a fire.

The fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install a power steering high pressure hose kit, free of charge. The recall began May 10, 2017. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2014 MURANO CROSSCABRIOLET.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Nissan dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 17V184000.
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-647-7261.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

The airbag warning indicator lit up on my Nisan Murano dash board. This is safety concern for me and my family. When I took my vehicle to Nissan dealer to have it checked, they said there was a recall on it which expired. I bought this vehicle in 2021. I did not get any recall notice. The cost to address the issue per dealers estimate is more than $4,000.0…

The safety issue is with a 2014 Nissan Murano. April 22, 2024, the air bag light is on steady, so the vehicle was taken to a Nissan dealer to determine the repairs that are necessary. The Nissan dealer determined the battery charge was low and recharged the battery. The air bag light went off afterwards for 6 months. Then on 1-27-25, the Nissan Murano was a…

The transmission has given out. There are recalls for the same year (2014) on different Nissan vehicles. There are issues that I have never had. One minute it will go then it'll shudder and not move at all even with the pedal pushed down. It goes into limp mode. There are threads and pages created just for this issue and nothing has been done about it. Th…

The paint on my hood started peeling last spring for no apparent reason, so I brought my car to a local body shop to have it repainted, and the owner there said that he sees this all the time with Nissans that are that color and that were made around that year, but that there were no recalls for it. I let it be and just paid for the hood to be done, thinkin…
