1. Latches / locks

What's wrong, in plain English: Doors, hood or trunk may open unexpectedly. DUE TO IMPROPER OPERATION OF THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH BY OWNERS USING EXCESSIVE FORCE ON THE LEVER, THE HOOD LATCH ASSEMBLY MAY BECOME DAMAGED, RESULTING IN SEPARATION OF THE SECONDARY LATCH FROM THE LATCH ASSEMBLY.

What could happen:

The fix: THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE HOOD LATCH ASSEMBLY WITH ONE THAT WILL REDUCE THE LIKELIHOOD OF ABUSE OR IMPROPER OPERATION, FREE OF CHARGE.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 1984 PULSAR.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Nissan dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 84V139000.
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

2. Lights

What's wrong, in plain English: Headlights, tail lights or turn signals may not work, making the car hard to see. IMPURE LUBRICATING GREASE USED IN THE HEADLIGHT SWITCHES COULD CONTAMINATE ONE OR MORE CONTACT POINTS. OPERATION OF THE HEADLIGHTS COULD BE DELAYED OR NOT LIGHT WHEN THE SWITCH IS TURNED ON OR WHEN THE DIMMER SWITCH IS OPERATED. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: LOSS OF HEAD LIGHTS WHILE DRIVING COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

What could happen:

The fix: REPLACE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AS NECESSARY.
