2023 Nissan Z recalls & complaints
Source: NHTSA, updated daily. Last checked 2026-10-18. Recalls apply to specific VINs — run your VIN to confirm.
2 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Body / structure
What's wrong, in plain English: Body panels, frame, doors, hood, trunk or latches. The fasteners in the left-side front bumper reinforcement clip may loosen, which can prevent the pop-up engine hood from activating.
What could happen: A pop-up engine hood that does not activate and raise the rear end of the hood in a frontal pedestrian crash, can increase the risk of injury.
The fix: Dealers will tighten the fasteners, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 7, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R23C8.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2023 Z.
- Book a repair at any authorized Nissan dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 23V725000 (manufacturer code R23C8).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-867-7669.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
