2026 Rivian R1s Bev recalls & complaints

3 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Seat belts
What's wrong, in plain English: Seat belts may not hold you in a crash. The bolts that secure the second-row driver and passenger side seat belt retractor assemblies may be improperly tightened.
What could happen: An improperly secured seat belt retractor may not adequately restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
The fix: Rivian will inspect and tighten the bolts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 2, 2026. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1795.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2026 R1S BEV.
- Book a repair at any authorized Rivian dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 26V009000 (manufacturer code FSAM-1795).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-888-748-4261.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
