5 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Engine

What could happen: A loose engine design cover may contact hot surfaces in the engine compartment and melt, increasing the risk of a fire.
The fix: Dealers will remove the engine design cover, free of charge. Once parts become available, Volkswagen will provide a free updated engine design cover under a separate Service Action. What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2022 GOLF R.
- Book a repair at any authorized Volkswagen dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 22V163000 (manufacturer code 10H5).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-893-5298.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
