1. Seat belts

What's wrong, in plain English: Seat belts may not hold you in a crash. The flexible steel cable that connects the seat belt to the front outboard seating positions may fatigue over time, causing the seat belt to not secure the occupant in the event of a crash.

What could happen: An unsecured occupant has an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

The fix: Volvo will notify owners, and dealers will replace the seat belt anchor cable for both front seats. The recall began December 10, 2020. Owners may contact Volvo customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo's number for this recall is R10029.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2010 XC60.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Volvo dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 20V378000 (manufacturer code R10029).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-458-1552.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

3. Airbags

What's wrong, in plain English: The airbag system — the part that is supposed to protect you in a crash. THE CURTAIN AIR BAGS MAY HAVE BEEN MIS-ASSEMBLED DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. THIS MAY CAUSE AN AIR BAG TO NOT DEPLOY OR NOT DEPLOY AS INTENDED.

What could happen: IF THE CURTAIN AIR BAG DOES NOT PERFORM AS INTENDED IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH NECESSITATING DEPLOYMENT OF THAT AIR BAG, IT MAY NOT PROPERLY PROTECT THE OCCUPANT, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURIES.

The fix: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE LEFT AND RIGHT CURTAIN AIR BAG ASSEMBLY AND ADJUST IF NECESSARY. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 9, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLVO AT 1-800-458-1552 OR AT CUSTOMERCARE@VOLVOFORLIFE.COM.

While slowing down and just about to make a turn into a private residence off of a highway, multiple indicator lights illuminated and audio warning "dinging" occurred for approximately 3 seconds. As I had already been slowly applying the brakes and starting to slightly turn the wheel towards the driveway when those warnings briefly came up, the moment the l…

05/08/2024 · Body / structure
After it rains, i've noticed water collecting in both the passenger and driver side footbeds. It started off nominally and I was easily able to use a cloth. I thought it might have been human error, that I left the window cracked open a bit. The most recent incident (this past weekend 5/4/24) there was a significant puddle on the driver's side. After furthe…
