1996 Winnebago Wkm34rq recalls & complaints
Source: NHTSA, updated daily. Last checked 2026-10-19. Recalls apply to specific VINs — run your VIN to confirm.
2 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Fuel system
What's wrong, in plain English: Fuel lines, tank or pump. Fuel problems usually mean a leak, and leaks mean fire risk. THE LIQUID PROPANE (LP) GAS SUPPLY HOSE LOCATED ADJACENT TO THE LP TANK CAN CONTACT THE TANK PLUMBING GUARD CAUSING THE HOSE TO WEAR THROUGH ALLOWING LP GAS TO BE RELEASED.
What could happen: LEAKAGE OF LP GAS INCREASES THE RISK OF A FIRE.
The fix: DEALERS WILL ADD AN ELBOW TO THE MANIFOLD PIPE WHICH WILL REDIRECT THE HOSE AROUND THE GUARD GIVING THE HOSE ADEQUATE CLEARANCE FROM THE EDGE OF THE GUARD.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 1996 WKM34RQ.
- Book a repair at any authorized Winnebago dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 96V150000.
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

NOTE: OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT WINNEBAGO AT 1-515-582-6939. ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-800-424-9393.
2. Equipment
What's wrong, in plain English: A part or accessory supplied with the vehicle. THE CERTIFICATION LABEL ON THESE VEHICLES CONTAIN INCORRECT TIRE PRESSURE DATA. THIS DOES NOT CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 120, "TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES OTHER THAN PASSENGER CARS."
What could happen: THESE VEHICLES COULD BE OVERLOADED INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
The fix: OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH NEW CERTIFICATION LABELS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. IF THE OWNER SO DESIRES, WINNEBAGO DEALERS WILL INSTALL THE LABEL FOR THEM.
