3 safety recalls, most serious first

1. Wheels / tires

What's wrong, in plain English: A wheel or tire can fail while driving. Incorrect tires may have been installed that do not match the tire label, and the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) may provide inaccurate information for the installed tires. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 110, "Tire Selection and Rims" and 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems."

What could happen: A tire label that does not accurately reflect the installed tires may result in the installation of incorrectly sized tires. In addition, the TPMS may not warn the driver of a drop in tire pressure. Both of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

The fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the tires as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 19, 2024. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N242444030.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2024 COLORADO.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Chevrolet dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 24V366000 (manufacturer code N242444030).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-222-1020.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

2. Fuel system

What's wrong, in plain English: Fuel lines, tank or pump. Fuel problems usually mean a leak, and leaks mean fire risk. The lock ring that secures the fuel pump to the fuel tank assembly may not have been fully locked during assembly, which can result in a fuel leak during a crash.

What could happen: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

The fix: Dealers will inspect and fully lock the fuel tank lock ring as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 13, 2024. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC Customer Call Center at (888) 988-7267. GM's number for this recall is N242451330.

In July 2026, I received a message on my truck's dashboard to "Service Latch System". Neither of my passenger doors would lock. I brought it into the Hendrick Chevrolet Service center, and they told me the actuators on both passenger side doors failed. Even though the truck is only 2 years old, they said I was past the mileage on the 3-year warranty and I w…

Love my 2024 Chevy Colorado and researched every aspect about it prior to purchase....accept the REQUIRED Onstar subscription to enable the handsfree "speaker button" @ RH side of steering wheel for phone, navigation, etc. I was finally made aware of a promotional that came w/ the truck by an Onstar rep that only worked for one month, which no one @ the dea…

I bought this vehicle late June 2026 and it is currently September 1 2026 and last week I encountered a check engine light. Its already having coolant issues. Way too early for something like this. Only 64,000 miles.

The windshield cowl and trim pieces keel breaking. If I didn't keep an eye on them they would just end up flying off causing road debris or projectiles

Engine cooling system has a known leak. It is rather expensive out of pocket and although there is now a tsb the tsb does not cover the danger of overheating an engine and being stranded on the side of the road. Also the coolant leaking causes an unseen hazard by polluting water supplies with one of the more known toxins to the water and environment.

While driving home multiple lights, messages and sounds came on the dashboard. I stepped on the brake and there were no brakes. I put vehicle in neutral and pumped brakes a few times. I was not traveling that fast so the vehicle stopped before I hit the person in front of me. I drove 10 mpg with my hazards on to the nearest gas station. I called Chevy servi…

I was told that my vehicle has a bent exhaust valve, which has caused irreparable damage to the engine and requires a complete engine replacement. The dealership could not determine what caused the valve to bend, but they indicated that it could potentially be a manufacturing defect, although they could not confirm that. My vehicle has now been at the Chevy…

Was on a trip and on the highway home the service break lights came on. By the time we got home(less than 200 miles) the breaks where scraping the calipers. Truck only had 25,586 miles on it when they picked it up to take to the shop. Dealership had to replace the break pads, calipers and rotor on the front driver side.
