High risk Campaign 20V811000 · announced 23/12/2020 (4 years ago)

1. Seat belts

What's wrong, in plain English: Seat belts may not hold you in a crash. Incorrect bolts may have been used at one or more fastening locations to secure the seat belts to the vehicle. If an incorrect bolt was used, the seat belt may not be properly attached to the vehicle.

What could happen: If a seat belt assembly is not properly attached to the vehicle, the seat belt may not properly restrain an occupant in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the suspect bolts, free of charge. The recall began January 29, 2021. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8785, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N202322230.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2021 COLORADO.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Chevrolet dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 20V811000 (manufacturer code N202322230).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-462-8785.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

In May 2025, I took my truck to the dealership due to a severe whining noise from the rear.
