6 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Brakes
What's wrong, in plain English: Anything that slows the car down. Treat brake recalls as urgent. The adaptive cruise control may fail to engage the brakes as expected, due to incorrect brake module software.
What could happen: A vehicle that does not automatically brake as expected increases the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will update the software calibration in the brake system control module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 13, 2025. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N242481530.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2025 EQUINOX EV.
- Book a repair at any authorized Chevrolet dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 25V012000 (manufacturer code N242481530).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-222-1020.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
