13. Body / structure

What's wrong, in plain English: Body panels, frame, doors, hood, trunk or latches. If the driver and front passenger door module experiences a low power condition and resets while the window is moving, the anti-pinch function may not detect an obstacle near the top edge and may not automatically reverse direction.

What could happen: A window that does not automatically reverse when an obstruction is encountered increases the risk of injury.

The fix: Dealers will update the software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 28, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23S37.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2023 F-450 SD.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Ford dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 23V507000 (manufacturer code 23S37).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-866-436-7332.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

I was driving the truck and applied the brakes to slow down for a turn, the anti-lock brake system activated and I lost the power steering and power brakes. There is steering fluid all over the engine so apparently either a line broke or the reservoir broke. This truck has the hydro boost brake system which is why I lost the steering and the brakes.
