3 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Lights — software update
What's wrong, in plain English: Headlights, tail lights or turn signals may not work, making the car hard to see. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
What could happen: DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: The body control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2023. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-80…

While driving at highway speeds the upper front grill part of my gmc sierra truck simply flew off. It went airborne and flew behind me causing traffic directly behind me to swerve out of the way into other traffic lanes to avoid missing the grill piece from hitting them. There was no indication of the part being loose or rattling or any warning. It simply j…

On Oct 11,2026, at approximately 105,106 miles, I was driving my 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 under 20 mph while entering a short designated turning lane at [location]. I felt a sudden, unexpected bump or jolt. The truck slid slightly and abruptly came to a complete stop, as though something had mechanically locked up. Immediately afterward, the dashboard displaye…

Upper grille deflector flew off going down the highway and hit the windshield and cracked it. Truck is a 2023 and warranty or dealership will not cover the repairs. Its a $85k truck and I don't think pieces of it should just fly off going down the highway. What if it hit somebody walking or riding a motorcycle.

1) Driving on highway and lost acceleration power would only go 50 mph/went into limp mode. Dealership stated VIN number had not been released into national safety recall. Replaced crank shaft valve and was told once VIN was released I would be reimbursed, to date still in dispute. 2) low oil light came on, upon checking oil was extremely low and oil had ju…

Front grill deflector flew off on the highway causing visibility issues and damaging paint on the truck. The clips broke and the piece shattered when it hit the roadway. Theres a recall on the 2022 and my 2023 is the exact same design with the exact same part. Gmc doesn't want to recall more trucks and has neglected this problem.

While driving my 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 at highway/interstate speed, the front upper grille molding/deflector unexpectedly detached from the vehicle. There was no collision or known impact immediately preceding the failure. I recovered the detached molding and inspected the vehicle afterward. Multiple molded attachment points on the back of the upper gril…

600 miles and 3 months out of warranty the dash completely disappeared. Dealership says the costs is in excess of $1600 to fix the issue. I have researched this and it is a common problem with these trucks and it needs an instrument cluster. Given the fact that GMC controls the panels to these trucks I feel certain that this is actually caused by them an…

Driving vehicle at approximately 70 mph when a semi truck passed me going the opposite direction. The upper grille deflector / molding section of my front end grille blew off and landed into on coming traffic. I understand a recall was issued for the same problem on the 2022 models, but not the 2023 model.
