What's wrong, in plain English: Engine problems range from stalling to fire. The airbox backplate breather port may be blocked, allowing pressure to build up inside the crankcase.
What could happen: When the dipstick is removed while the crankcase is pressurized, oil may eject from the fill spout, increasing the risk of injury.
The fix: Dealers will inspect the breather port, and if the port is blocked, repair the blockage, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 14, 2026. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.…
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2026 FLHX.
- Book a repair at any authorized Harley-Davidson dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 26V270000 (manufacturer code 0193).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-258-2464.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
