1. Seat belts

What's wrong, in plain English: Seat belts may not hold you in a crash. The front seat belt pretensioners may be missing the rivet that secures the quick connector and wire plate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 208, "Occupant Crash Protection," 209, "Seat Belt Assembles," and 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

What could happen: A seat belt pretensioner missing a rivet will not properly restrain the occupant, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

The fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt pretensioner assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 8, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are MG7 and NG5.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2024 HR-V.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Honda dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 23V782000 (manufacturer code MG7 and NG5).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-888-234-2138.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

Vehicle began making loud chainsaw noise. Took to original location of purchase (Nissan Dealer - bought as used at 42k, no issues), was told that alternator, drive belt and tensioner were needing replacement as that was the location of noise. Took to Honda Dealer where I was originally told just tensioner, now they are stating alternator is faulty along wit…

I own a 2024 Honda HR-V. Since I purchased the vehicle, I have experienced recurring warning messages stating: "Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem - See Your Dealer" and "Road Departure Mitigation System Problem - See Your Dealer." *The vehicle exhibited a profound and worrisome vibration under the driver's seat ( I was also told by a Honda Serviceman in the passenger seat during the pre-service test drive, that he felt it, also), when accelerating at speeds of 53 mph and above on the highway. This systematic issue was replicated by the dealership across multiple model years (2023 an…

My wheels will not stay aligned. I’ve had all the property services done to the car, and extra, by a Honda Dealer. I have 8 repair records to alignment on a new car, in under 18 months. Under my state of Virginia laws, only three safety fixes on a car authorize the car as a ‘dud’ and should be a buy back. Honda Corp has in their possession all documents and…
