2 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Transmission / drivetrain
What's wrong, in plain English: The parts that send engine power to the wheels. Failure can mean a sudden loss of power or the car rolling away. The electronic controller for the Idle Stop & Go oil pump assembly may contain damaged electrical components that can cause the pump controller to overheat.
What could happen: An electric oil pump assembly that overheats increases the risk of a vehicle fire.
The fix: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will inspect and replace the electric oil pump controller, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed starting September 7, 2023. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-37…
What to do
- Park outside, away from houses, garages and other cars — there is a fire risk even when the vehicle is off.
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2023 TUCSON HYBRID.
- Book a repair at any authorized Hyundai dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 23V526000 (manufacturer code 246).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Manufacturer hotline: 1-855-371-9460.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

There was/is a recall #290 on the tow hitch harness. There was a concern of a fire risk. Hyundai’s remedy was to cut the harness making the tow hitch unusable. This has been since March. The NHTSA is not putting any pressure on Hyundai to replace the harness. The nHTSA doesn’t acknowledge that this recall is still open. All consumers like me who purchased…
