1. Engine

What's wrong, in plain English: Engine problems range from stalling to fire. The water pump pulley drive belt may become damaged or detach, which can allow the engine to overheat. An overheated engine can rupture the engine coolant elbow pipe, leaking coolant onto the turbocharger heat shield.

What could happen: Coolant leaking onto the turbocharger heat shield inside the engine compartment can increase the risk of a fire.

The fix: Dealers will replace the engine coolant elbow and the turbocharger feed coolant pipe, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 19, 2023. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N785.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2019 RANGE ROVER PHEV.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Land Rover dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 23V221000 (manufacturer code N785).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-637-6837.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
