1. Engine

What's wrong, in plain English: Engine problems range from stalling to fire. The affected vehicles are equipped with V6 or V8 engines whose crankshaft pulley retaining bolt may fracture possibly resulting in engine failure.

What could happen: Engine failure can increase the risk of crash.

The fix: Land Rover has notified owners, and dealers will replace the crankshaft pulley center retaining bolt, free of charge. The recall began February 12, 2019. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N276.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2019 RANGE ROVER VELAR.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Land Rover dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 19V040000 (manufacturer code N276).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-637-6837.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

2. Lights

What's wrong, in plain English: Headlights, tail lights or turn signals may not work, making the car hard to see. The Auto High Beam (AHB) system does not indicate through the instrument cluster when the high beams are illuminated automatically. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

What could happen: The driver may be unaware that the high beams are illuminated, reducing visibility for oncoming traffic, and increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, free of charge. The recall began April 7, 2021. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N556.

As I was driving down the interstate doing about 75 miles per hour the car lost all power without a warning. It was at night in the middle of no where. I almost had a bad accident but I was able to veer off the road before the car brakes locked. I was unable to use safety flashers.

I am reporting a premature failure of the daytime running light (DRL) system on my Range Rover Velar. Both DRLs have failed within approximately one year of each other, indicating a likely systemic defect rather than normal wear. The DRLs are integrated LED components within the headlamp assembly and are not serviceable independently. When the DRL fails, th…

SUV Rear hatch has a mind of its own and will come down unexpectedly on you when your reaching into the back. This is the kick your foot under the bumper to get it to open feature. Both the Cooling elbow and manifold connecting to the engine block were disintegrating causing severe leaks on both the elbow and manifold connections. This is a well known recall for Range Rover Velars that was never addressed on my vehicle. Multiple dealers refused to address the issue forcing me to perform the repairs myself.
