3 safety recalls, most serious first

High risk Campaign 25V379000 · announced 06/06/2025 (1 years ago)

1. Body / structure

What's wrong, in plain English: Body panels, frame, doors, hood, trunk or latches. In certain crash scenarios, where the rear occupant's head contacts the C-pillar, the pillar may not absorb an adequate amount of the impact. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 201, "Occupant Protection in Interior Impact."

What could happen: In the event of a crash, insufficient impact protection can increase the risk of injury.

The fix: Dealers will modify the roof lining and C-pillar trim, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 9, 2025. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2025 GLC 300 4MATIC.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 25V379000.
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-800-367-6372.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.

2. Steering

What's wrong, in plain English: If steering fails you can lose control of the car. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models. The steering coupling bolt may have been improperly tightened, allowing the steering coupling to loosen from the steering rack.

What could happen: A loose steering coupling can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: Dealers will tighten the steering coupling bolts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 6, 2025. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.

The liftgate on this car is faulty. There are hundreds of reports online that I found when it happened to me, which has been several times now. The liftgate has a sensor that is activated by your foot, but when you are inside the hatch it will trigger and close on you. All of the screens in the car failed to start. They remained black while the car was running. Turning the car off did nothing. Drove to a parking lot, turned the car off, got out, locked the car, waited 5 minutes and it still didn't come back. Had to do a reboot by holding the system power button for 10 seconds. This has occurred 3x in 9,200 miles.
