1. Electrical system

What's wrong, in plain English: Wiring, modules, batteries. Short circuits can cause stalls or fires. When there is an unbelted passenger, the seat belt warning light and audible chime will not activate as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

What could happen: A malfunctioning seat belt warning system may not alert the passenger to buckle their seat belt, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

The fix: Dealers will update the instrument cluster software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 16, 2023. Owners may contact Porsche's customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is APA2.

  2. Book a repair at any authorized Porsche dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 23V176000 (manufacturer code APA2).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
