3 safety recalls, most serious first
1. Steering
What's wrong, in plain English: If steering fails you can lose control of the car. A tie rod bolt on the rear axle assembly may be loose, which can lead to a loss of vehicle control.
What could happen: A loss of vehicle control increases the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will replace the affected tie rod bolt, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 5, 2025. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 42E7.
What to do
- Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2025 TIGUAN.
- Book a repair at any authorized Volkswagen dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 25V526000 (manufacturer code 42E7).
- The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
- Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
