1. Body / structure

What's wrong, in plain English: Body panels, frame, doors, hood, trunk or latches. Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Winnebago View, Era, and Itasca Navion motorhomes. The retractable awning may extend unintentionally during transit.

What could happen: An awning extending unintentionally during transit may become a distraction or road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: Dealers will install a power switch and a relay to the BT12 module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 11, 2023. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-6939 or 1-800-537-1885. This recall is superseded by NHTSA recall 23V-694.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2022 ERA.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Winnebago dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 22V695000.
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Manufacturer hotline: 1-641-585-6939.
  5. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
