1. Airbags

What's wrong, in plain English: The airbag system — the part that is supposed to protect you in a crash. The Sophisticated Air Bag Sensor (SAS) units may set an error code and deactivate the air bags, due to a low battery condition.

What could happen: Air bags that do not deploy in the event of a crash increase the risk of injury.

The fix: Dealers will reprogram the SAS unit with improved software or replace the unit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 24, 2025. Mazda's number for this recall is 7525E.

What to do

  1. Check whether your car is affected: enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A recall covers specific VINs, not every 2025 CX-30.
  2. Book a repair at any authorized Mazda dealer. Quote NHTSA campaign 25V357000 (manufacturer code 7525E).
  3. The repair is free. By US law, safety recall repairs cost the owner nothing, no matter the car's age or mileage.
  4. Buying this car used? Ask the seller for proof the recall was completed, or run the VIN yourself before paying.
